　当社は9/29(火)東京品川区にてFDTセミナーに出席致しました。

 

◎FDTセミナーとは？

　FDT Gourpというベルギーに本部（2015年9月時点、会長：米国人Lee Lane氏）を置き、数か国に支部を持つ世界的な公益団体があります。こちらの団体は、FDTという工業用オートメーションのある種のソフトウェアの仕様を世界に普及させることを目的の一つとしています。FDTセミナーは、その支部が行うFDTについての講演会・勉強会です。今回は、弊社社長が所属するISAの日本支部から紹介され、FDT日本支部が行うFDTセミナーに出席致しました。

 

◎FDTとは？

　FDTとは、Field Device Toolsの略で、オートメーションにおいて、例えば様々なセンサーやアクチュエーターといったフィールド機器と、例えばPLC (Programmable Logic Controller) といった上位のシステムの間でデータ交換を行うためのインターフェースソフトウェアの”仕様”です。FDTは現在、IEC (国際電気標準会議) やISA で定義づけられていて、国際標準化されています。

　FDTは、メーカーや機種、通信プロトコルに関係なく、コントローラーやアセット管理システムにより、フィールド機器の様々な設定や保守サービスをシームレスに行うことを可能にします。現在、オートメーションのネットワークは、各ネットワークがグローバルで不特定多数の個人や法人等の様々なシステムにつながるIoTやIndustry4.0等の方向に動いています。しかし、すでにFA/PA問わず大きな工場やプラントの多くでは、オートメーションピラミッドと言われるヒエラルキーを持ったオートメーションの巨大なネットワークが存在します。そのなかの”部分的なシステムを改良したい”という場合、以前は各工場につながりの深いメーカーの機器を使用しなければ、その改良が難しいことが多かったのです。FDTはこのようなユーザーからの需要に答えようとする技術です。そのメリットは普遍的に高いと思われます。右上の写真はセミナーで頂いた、FDTの解説書の印象的な表紙です。

 

◎FDTセミナーの感想

　今回、ユーザー用セミナーに出席致しました。午前中にLee Lane会長による組織説明、日本支部の方によるFDTの概要説明があり、午後に採用実例紹介や展示物による実演がありました。全体の流れはとてもスムーズで、セミナーはとても充実していると感じました。英語で行われた数人の方のプレゼンは通訳がいらっしゃいましたが、英語のプレゼンターがいらっしゃること自体、セミナーのグローバルな意識の高さを示していると思います。そしてやはり、展示物による実演は分かりやすかったです。様々な点で勉強になりました。FDT Groupの皆様に感謝致します。

 Bezalel attended the FDT seminar in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo on September 29.

 

*What is FDT seminar ?

 There is a public utility corporation named FDT Group whose headquater is located in  Belgium (as of September 2015, President : Mr. Lee Lane) which has branches in several countries. One of purposes of this group is disseminating a certain software of industrial automation called FDT to the world. FDT seminar is a reviewing and lecture meeting about FDT which is held by branches of FDT Gourp. Bezalel attended the FDT seminar held by FDT Japanese branch after introdued by ISA-Japan which Bezalel's President belongs to.

 

*What is FDT ?

 FDT is an abbreviation of Feild Device Tools, and a specification of an interface software to exchange data between field devices (such as various sensors and actuators) and the upper level systems (such as PLCs). FDT is nowadays defined in IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) and ISA, and internationally standardized.

 FDT enables to do configuration and maintenance seamlessly with the controllers and asset management systems regardless of the device manufacturers, the device types, and the telecommunication protocols. Currently, automation network is moving toward the direction of IoT and Industry 4.0, etc. where each network is connected to various systems of global and unspecified individuals, companies, etc. But, there already exist huge automation networks called automation pyramid which have hierarchy in many large factories and plants regardless of FA or PA. In case that " We want to improve the partial system" in it, previously, the improvement was difficult without use of the devices of a manufacturer which the factory or plant was deeply linked to. FDT is  a technology which tries to meet the demands from the users like this. Its merit seems to be universally high. The right-upper picture shows the impressive cover of the manual on FDT given in the seminar.

 

*The impression of the seimar

 This time, Bezalel attended the seminar for users. It has explanations on the group by President Lee Lane and the outline of FDT by a person of the FDT Japanese branch in the forenoon, and introductions to adoption examples and demonstrations with display devices in the afternoon. The seminar seemed be very substantial because overall flow was very smooth. Presentation by a few people which were in English had interpretation, but having English speaking presenter itself seemed to show the height of globalization consciousness. And, the demonstrations with display devices were easy to understand. The seminar gave us a chance to learn in the various points. Bezalel is grateful to people of FDT Group. Thank you so much !
